In order for a player to qualify for the playoffs he has to have played at least 9 games this current SABL season. In a rare case an exception may be made but the captains have to email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it well in advance.

Secondly due to overwhelming requests the majority of the teams in the SABL the league is allowing a 1 transaction exception. That means that all teams are able to add one player and or make a trade. This Sunday is the deadline so anything that needs to be done has to be done by this Sunday. That means all paperwork has to be emailed or faxed over to the league before this Sunday's game. If your paperwork is not submitted in time for this Sunday's game that means that your player will not be able to play.

Power Rankings

#1 - Humans (6-1)

They handed Strong Island their first loss of the season. But lost to the Titans. How do you interpret this information? They are by far one of the deepest teams in the league. They are blowing away the competition and barely lost to the Titans. Depth can go a long way.

#2 – Strong Island (6-1)

Many may not agree with the number 2 spot for SI. But they lost to the Humans and only beat the Titans via forfeit. What if they lost to the Titans? That remains a big question. Does this team have what it takes to beat the elite? We will wait until they play the Titans to see if this ranking is the right one.

#3 – Titans (5-2)

They beat the Humans, Ballers, have the potential to beat SI, and really only lost one game due to a forfeit. So why the #3 spot? Because they lost to the Hitmen fair and square. They are not the deepest of teams. We know they can play, but they need to play every week to gain the top spot.

#4 – SWAT (5-2)

The record speaks for itself so SWAT gets the #4 spot. They have won each of the last 5 games by 4 points or less but they have hung on and a win is a win. Can they begin to play at a higher level and gain a lead? Or will they continue to trail at halftime? Eventually one team will maintain their lead, unless SWAT starts playing at their potential.

#5 – Ballers (4-3)

They have the same record as many others. But they are getting hot after a slow start and we can never count out the defending champs. They beat other 4-3 teams like Panthers and Dynasty without last years MVP. They are winning now when it counts so lets see how far they can go. Things can only get better from here.

#6 – Panthers (4-3)

If it wasn’t for a loss to the Ballers, they would move up a spot. But this team has dropped 3 of the last 4 and seem like they are still searching to find out who they are. We know they have the talent to win, but can they put it together bring it to the court on a weekly basis. The week 7 game should be a sign of whats to come for this franchise.

#7 – Hitmen (4-3)

But they beat the Titans! Why #7?? Because they lost to the Panthers, SWAT and Dynasty. Teams that maybe they should have beat. Their lack of size could prevent them from going farther than they want. But they do have a deadly backcourt that could put them over the top. Elite teams beware!

#8 – Dynasty (4-3)

They have already won more games than they have won in the past 2 seasons. But could that be due to a favorable early schedule or is this a revamped team? One thing is for sure, with a full squad they are a force to be reckoned with. They have the talent, but do they have the heart to keep winning.

#9 – MKA-NY (2-5)

Such a promising team at the beginning of the season. But they have lost 3 of the last 4 and are sinking fast. They have the outside-inside game but keep falling short. They need to get things going if they want to make the playoffs. The next couple of favorable games can work in their favor, but they need to get through SI next week before the easier games.

#10 – Assassins (1-6)

With a little over a third of the season underway, the Assassins are not performing as they thought. With only one win, they are in a tough situation. They will need to focus and make some changes for the rest of the season, or its going to be a long one.

#11 – Ravens (1-6)

They fall in the same boat as the Assassins. These two teams could really be interchangeable. But Ravens get the #11 spot for now. They will also need to come up with a game plan for the rest of the season. Or just prepare for season 4.

#12 – Desert Eagles (0-7)

Many think this team is way better than their record shows. They have the leagues biggest man and take each team to the brink. But it seems the lack of team chemistry is causing them to win. The question remains to see if these guys can start to gel and make a run because we know they are talented enough. Or will they keep laying goose eggs in the win column?

Basketballers defeat the Desert Eagles
The Basketballers weren't about to become the first prey in the talons of the the Desert Eagles. The Desert Eagles and the Basketballers battled it out until the Eagles were unable to continue and ultimately had to forfeit to the Basketballers.

SWAT defeat the HitMEn 69-67

The HitMen and SWAT came in to this game with matching 4 game winning streaks. The HitMen were riding the dynamic back court of Maaz Begawala and Triggy Clavecilla. In addition to the dynamic duo they have Sinu Jacon who was coming off a 27 point game. The HitMen really seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. They took on SWAT who brought in the Twin Towers Tarek Yasin and Stanley Thomas. Team SWAT had never paired the twin towers until today. The HitMen were up by 6 at the half and took a 10 point lead at one point. But like SWAT has done during their winning streak, the streak in which they have been behind in every game, they battled back. A lot of traps and some timely free throws by SWAT allowed them to win this game with seconds left.

Panthers defeat MKA-NY
The Panthers roared to action against the fading MKA team. The Panthers welcomed back Mandeep and Jasjit to the hardwood and the Panthers looked like a completely different team with those two additions. Jasjit came back with a monster game 39 points and 16 rebounds. He led all scorers and set a new season high for points scored this season. MKA were led by captain Khurram Bajwa who tried his best to take the smaller guards of the Panthers in the paint, but the size and the slashing of Jasjit proved to be too much as the Panthers pulled away from MKA and stayed on top.

Titans defeat the Ravens

The Titans came in with only 5 player sand those 5 players were able to control the tempo and dominate a Ravens team that looked lost on offense. The Ravens were able to make some runs with the three ball but the Titans had everything working today and the Ravens were unable to battle with them today.

HUMANS defeat Strong Island 68-61

The HUMANS showed off their depth and beat Strong Island. Strong Island missing Shaun and Lamba was never an issue, but against the deeper HUMANS team it became apparent that Strong Island needs to bring their "A" game against the SABL elite. Muneeb paced the HUMANS with 20 points and Ahmad Ghumman and Mahdi Macbahi each contributed 11 rebounds a piece. On the Strong Island side Mark Pollard, Neil Ramani, and Richard Reyes all had double doubles but it wasn't enough as the HUMANS.

Dynasty defeats the Assassins

Dynasty showed up on time and the Assassins didn't. This set the tone for the entire night. Dynasty was up big before the game even began. When the game did begin Dynasty giant Tim Crane came up with another monster game grabbing 20 rebounds. For the fading Assassins the season seems to be on the brink.

SWAT vs HitMen

Week 7 brings together two very competitive 4-2 teams. The showdown between SWAT and Hitmen will definitely be a game to watch. It will showcase two of the leagues highest scorers in Tarek Yasin from SWAT and Triggy from Hitmen. SWAT has been playing the leagues best D right now and the quick hands of Sijo, Ahmad and Davis are going to look to shut down the Hitmen backcourt of Triggy and Maaz. But it seems like the inside game will be the deciding factor of this game. With the addition of Stanley Thomas, SWAT is showing a lot if size in the paint; perhaps too much for Hitmen to handle. Prince and Co. will definitely have their hands full. If their defense holds up and their bigmen come to play, SWAT can walk away with the win. But with such a dangerous backcourt, the Hitmen are more than capable of the upset.

Strong Island vs HUMANS

The Message Board has spoken. The game of the week puts the leagues only undefeated team, Strong Island, against the powerhouse HUMANS. This will be a game for the ages and will be talked about for a while. The teams look ever so similar on paper and only 1 win separates the two. Yet the HUMANS can match SI for the leagues best record or can let SI walk away as the overwhelming favorite. Muneeb of the HUMANS has uncharacteristically scored less than 20 pts in two consecutive games and is looking for another 30 pt performance to beat SI. But he will have the likes of outstanding rookies Mark Pollard and Richard Reyes trying to keep him out of the lane. SI is coming off a bye week with the forfeit of the Titans and could be a little rusty, but has been showing they are the real deal as they blow by teams without bigman Lamba. SI will be playing their usual tenacious D and will be looking to shutdown Muneeb, so the HUMANS will need someone else to step it up if they want to walk away a winner. But with a team so deep, HUMANS can’t really be considered the underdog…can they?

Desert Eagles vs Basketballers

Desert Eagles have proved to the league that they are a much better team than they are on paper. Taking the leagues best teams to the brink and losing by a basket or two. Ballers have been getting hot lately winning their last 3 games. But they have not faced the likes of the leagues biggest man, Sean Corrigan. Sean absolutely punishes his defenders. But the rumor is Sean may be out due to an unknown injury sustained during their loss to SWAT. If that is the case, the Ballers backcourt consisting of Sajeel Haque and Suleman Tariq can get to the rim with no worries. With no real size other than Sean, the Ballers bigmen made up of Nadeem and Co. can take full advantage. However, this is an interesting game and Sean’s injury should be paid attention to. If he is able to attend and joins the likes of swingmen Walid Hariki and Zeeshan Hazara; the Desert Eagles may just be able to hold on and finally close out on a win.

Panthers vs MKA-NY

MKA and Panthers were once two of the leagues favorites. However, both teams are now experiencing a 3 game losing streak and its up to one of these teams to break that trend. The Panthers will try to get back to dominance as they take on the powerful MKA guards, Imran and Farhan. These two guys have lit up their defenders on a weekly basis but will need a lift from their teammates if they want to keep from losing 4 games in a row. They will be going against Gurpreet Multani and a Panthers team that is as deep as any team in the league. Week in and week out they have a different player step up and take the spotlight. Whether its Jagdeep or Davinder, the Panthers are going to need a collective effort and not an individual one to top their opponent. MKA is hungry and is looking to get back to the top, but will the apparent consistency of the Panthers get in their way? Stay tuned…

Titans vs Ravens

What a difference a week makes. The one-time league favorite Titans have now fallen into the pack and is no longer leading as the leagues undefeated team. Attendance has seemed to plague this talented team. Being shorthanded led to their first loss against the Hitmen in week 5 and led to a forfeit last week. But the Titans will be coming out strong in week 7 and will remind the league why they are still a force to be reckoned with. The backcourt of Lejoe and Tomy Joseph will look to attack the weak Raven defense. Big man Rex will look to get to the rim early and often against an undersized Raven frontline. If the Ravens want to compete, they will need a big day from Koshy and Biju, and some tough D reminiscent of the Baltimore Ravens. If not, then the Titans will have a field day and we will most definitely remember the Titans for one more week.

Dynasty vs Assassins

This week, Dynasty will be looking to go over .500 for the first time since Week 2 of Season 1 of SABL. It has been a long time since Dynasty has had a winning record. Captain Ghaurav has seen some dark days in Dynasty land. Seems like the free agent additions of big man Tim Crane and sharp-shooter Angel Hernandez will bring some much needed glory to this once disastrous team. They will face the young and ambitious Assassins led by PG Kashif Zeb. Assassins have dropped their last 5 games and are looking like the Dynasty team of old. Watch for some big production from the Dynasty interior as it seems like this may be the week Dynasty captures a winning record and takes advantage of the inexperienced and much smaller Assassin team.
