Sunday Night Results

5pm Game

Sunday night found the Titans ready to go at 5pm and the Basketballers coming off of a big win over the HitMen only having 5 people. The game began and the Basketballers found the rest of their team showing up after 4 or 5 minutes of the game had passed. The Titans took an early lead and the game was in danger of being a blow out. The Basketballers now having a full team and the never say die atitude fought back to make game of it. But ultimately it was too much of the Titans big men Stanley and who grabbed rebound after rebound and The Basketballers were defeated. The Titans find themselves as being the only undefeated team aside from Money Crew.

6:00pm Game

SWAT took on Force for the 6pm game. This game found both teams being very sluggish in the beginning. But ultimately SWAT proved to be too much for Force as Sonu and Wasik were able to control the paint. The pre game talk was taken literally as Mohammad and Davis followed up all missed shots to grab 7 and 8 rebounds respectively. SWAT put in a true team effort and played a complete second half. Force made a mini run in the second half but SWAT regrouped and the game got away from Force in the second half.

7:00pm Game

This game found the winless Dream Team vs the winless Tigers. This game had the intensity of the playoffs. The game found the Dream Team taking every long rebound from a Tigers missed three for a lay up on the other end. The Tigers were down by 17 points but clawed back to within 4 points with just a few minutes to go. The Tigers were able to go to the basket at will but ultimately the long jump shots turned in to long rebounds for the Dream Team and became easy transition baskets. When the dust settled the Dream Team was walking away with a victory and the Tigers were wondering what went wrong.

Friday 12/14/07 Recap
Sunday, 16 December 2007
Friday night lights returned

Games started on time and ended on time, it was a great job by a lot of volunteers to make sure that everything went smoothly.

First game found the undefeated Dynasty vs the Money Crew. This game saw the Money Crew take a commanding early lead. Dynasty began to take it inside and get a few and 1's to cut the lead down to within 8. But the Money Crew captain and Human killer Muneeb Ahmed was not to be denied as he willed his team to victory by taking it to the hoop repeatedly.

The Humans played an undermanned Spartans. The Spartans and Humans played a messy first few minutes that found the Humans missing tons of inside shots and the Spartans barely getting any shots off. The few that they got off were three pointers that they hit to take an early 11-8 lead. After that though the lack of depth from the Spartans who had only dressed 7 was evident as they ran out of gas and the Humans ran all over them. The Humans came at the Spartans with a balanced attack that ultimately put the Spartans away. Player of the game Kamran Syed dished out 5 assists along with 7 points. The Spartans before the game made 2 more additions to their roster and should be more complete come next week. The Spartans were lead by captain Joe Varughese who had 11 points.

Triple Threat played the undermanned HitMen. The HitMen had the bulk of their team playing in a national tournament. This found the remaining HitMen playing an almost fully stocked Triple Threat, highlights of this game will be forthcoming. HitMen put up a valiant fight and those in attendance watching the game actually commented that it was probably the HitMen's best game of the season. But it wasn't enough as Triple Threat was lead by Humza a new addition to the Triple Threat roster who probably had one of the most dominating games in SABL history. Triple Threat looked like a totally different team than the one that played the Spartans. The inside presence of Hamza opened up the shooters for Triple Threat and they did what they do best hit the three.

Weekly Recap
Monday, 10 December 2007
We have our weekly recap, we have had some exciting games this weekend with two of them going in to over time.

Dream Team looked a bit uneven against Dynasty but still kept it close. Dream Team showed the league that they have the nucleus to compete but just need some time to gel. Dynasty after having 1 win the entire season last year have rebounded well to be in first place wtih 2 wins so far. Although both wins haven't been super impressive both wins have shown that Dynasty can slow the game down and dictate the pace of the game.

In one of the most surprising games of the weekend, Titans dismantled a very good Force team. Titans are looking like the early favorites of the SABL and will probably be ranked #1 on the power rankings when they are released. Force was missing a guard but Force really struggled against this strong Titans team.

In one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, last years SABL champions the HitMen played the Basketballers. The game was just like last year and it was very close till the end, but this time when the dust settled the Basketballers had the game in hand.

After this game was delayed slightly the Spartans jumped to a huge lead, but with Triple Threat no lead is insurmontable. Triple Threat chipped away to force overtime and in overtime Triple Threat proved to be too much and defeated the upstart Spartans. The Spartans looked very strong but it wasn't meant to be on this day.

After the Spartans and Triple Threat game this game seemed to be anti climactic. That was until the first few moments of the game. The Tigers played in their usual frantic pace but the SWAT team seemed to thrive off of that pace forcing turnovers and taking it strong to the basket. The Tigers clawed back and were up at half time, but in the 2nd half the SWAT Team came through and repeated their first half defensive intensity and it seemed as if the Tigers just ran out of steam.

Updated Rules and Regulations on the gym
Friday, 07 December 2007
Hello Everyone, Just wanted to keep you in the loop about our gym status. We had our game on Sunday and unfortunately we started late, because we started late we ended late. We have given been given a warning that we have to start on time and end on time. If we are late again we risk our permit.

A second item of note is that we didn't clean up after ourselves and as a result they have suspended our ability to bring in any food or drinks in to the gym. Yes you heard that correctly, no gatorade or even water is allowed in the gym.

You can not bring in any food or drink in to the gym if you do so you will be asked to leave the building to finish it, you can not throw it out in the garbage in the gym.

The first game will start tonight at exactly at 7pm. Come in put your stuff on the bleachers, the teams that are scheduled to play will sit on the bench by the entrance door, once you are finished with your game you go to the bleachers and the next game begins and the next group of teams will sit on the bench.

There is no half time, after the first half ends the clock will start right away for the second half. The clock stops only for the last 2 minutes in the 2nd half but if you are running late we will not stop the clock. Also the clock will only stop for free throws during the game, again if you are running late we will not stop the clock.
