UPDATE
Please be advised that any team that has friends and family come to watch the game. We have to make sure that the friends and family respect the rules of keeping the gym clean and not bringing in any food or drinks. Secondly we have to make sure that when the games are over that we leave quickly, we have been having situations of the friends and family not leaving on time and instead shooting around in between time outs. There is to be no shooting around in between time outs or games, this court is for the teams that are playing that night only.
Friday Night Results
Spartans
vs
Dream Team
This game featured the premiere match up of Shawn Ramani and Shahin Shirhkani vs Joe Varughese and the Spartans. This game went back and forth for a while and was close right to the end. Shawn had 15 points and 4 steals to lead the way. Both teams kept it close and ultimately a few big defensive stops by the Spartans sealed the deal vs the Dream Team.
Money Crew
vs
SWAT
This may not have been the game of the week on the message board but this was the game that everyone came out to see. There was a sizeable crowd on hand to watch the game. The game featured the Money Crew taking over the glass. They pushed and boxed out the SWAT team and took a commanding lead that they held. SWAT pulled within 6 but back to back 3 pointers by the Money Crew put away SWAT. The crowd was oohing and aahing with every Money Crew made basket.
Basketballers
vs
Triple Threat
This was the most talked about game on the message boards and this game didn't disapoint. This game came down to the wire between the Ballers and Triple Threat. The Basketballers went toe to toe with Triple Threat. Abdullah slashed to the basket, Joe controlled the glass, and Zebi Pirzada had some long three pointers. On the Basketballers front, Nadeem was hitting three pointers, and slashing to the basket, Zeeshan was providing strong interior defense along with some huge blocks, and last but not least another strong game by Talha who had control of glass for the Ballers. This game came down to the wire and due to some bad fouls by the Ballers, the Triple Threat were right there until the very end.
Sunday Night Results
Force
vs
Humans
Force literally shot themselves to a victory today. Force had 12+ shots from behind the arc. Force drained three after three. The Humans could not capitalize near the end of the game even though Force gave them ample opportunities to get back in to the game with many ill advised fouls that caused the clock to stop. This game just proved that on a night where Force is hitting that many shots from behind the arc, that any team can look just human in front of them.
Titans
vs
Dynasty
Dynasty came closer than any team has come so far in defeating the mighty Titans. Dynasty actually went in to the half leading by 8, but the Titans came out really strong starting the second half and took the lead back from Dynasty within the first 3 minutes of the second half. Stanley had another dominant game with rebound after rebound, and had a few blocks to go with the rebounds. The Titans came close but Dynasty just seemed to fall apart near the end. The Titans streak continues.

Sunday, 20 January 2008 |
The league has been given word by Ashraf Hussain of the Tigers that his team will not be able to make it today for their game against the Hit Men. The Hit Men have been informed and will not be coming to the game.
That leaves the Titans vs Dynasty game at 7pm and the Humans vs Force game at 5pm. Dynasty and Titans would it be possible for you to start at 6pm instead so that we can all leave earlier and catch the second half of the Giants game? Can the representatives of the Titans and Dynasty please call the league immediately.
Thanking you,

We found that a lot of players were unable to get a picture up on the web site with their respective team jerseys on. You will be happy to know that the league has been able to get a picture up on the web site for you. So if you don't have a picture up on the web site please make it a point to do so.
Starting the week of 24th all teams that have incomplete information will begin to get penalized. |

The SABL would like to thank the volunteers who came out to keep score and to otherwise make sure that everything was run smoothly this weekend.
5:00pm Game
Basketballers
vs
SWAT
This game was all about the Basketballers coming in and dominating the glass vs an undermanned SWAT. SWAT was led by a break out game by newcomer Wasik. SWAT had an early leard but Basketballers stayed close and then took the lead with 8 minutes left in the game, once the Basketballer's took the lead they never relinquished it. Near the end SWAT it was just too much Ballin for SWAT.
6:00pm Game
Titans
vs
Humans
In the most discussed match up in the 2007-2008 SABL season. The Titans inside game and outside shooting proved to be too much against the HUMANS. The HUMANS attempted to play small ball and increase the tempo of the game but Stanley of the Titans proved to be too much as he controlled the offense and the defense of the game with crazy rebounding numbers. Titans continue to be the only undefeated team in the league.
7:00pm Game
Spartans
vs
Tigers
Proving all of the so called experts wrong, this turned out to be the game of the week as the Spartans barely held off the hungry Tigers. The tigers were missing Thazul and perhaps he could have been the difference as this game came down to the last 10 seconds. This was a very, very, close game. Hats off to the Tigers who are playing just as hard as they were from the first game of the season and were just seconds away from their first victory.
