|
Saturday, 06 November 2010 |
Captains
I regret to inform you that all of tomorrows games has been postponed. We at the SABL truly apologize for any inconvenience and understand this is the second week in the row our week 1 games have been postponed.
We received a call from RFK this morning stating that the Superintendent has been out sick and did not make the security arrangements for our games. Therefore, we cannot play without security guards and had to postpone our kickoff week.
Please note that we WILL NOT be losing any games. Instead we are pushing the season back 1 more week. Again, we truly apologize and are just as upset as many of you will be.
Please make sure your teams understand the situation and realize this was a decision that was out of our hands. We will resume next week, November 14th.
Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Thank You

Last year one of the most hyped teams to come in to the league was Rukus. There was a lot of buzz of the Begawala brothers joining together to take it to the SABL. Well they got together and Maaz who owns the SABL scoring record of 54 points teamed up with older brother Muhammad. They didn't win the championship but they did cause a Rukus indeed. This year they have retooled, and revamped to bring the championship home to the Begawala household.

One of the original team of the SABL. The Titans return for their 5th season. They are led by SABL League MVP Tommy Job. They also bring back Lejoe Endanattu a dynamic point guard who is always amongs the league leaders in scoring. Matthew Alexander and his penchant for rebounding make up the power forward position. But this team is always led by their emotional leader and now team captain Rex (T-Rex) Varughese. Rex looks to take the Titans to their first ever championship.

STYL returns this season with a core that led them to the overall number 1 seed with a 10-1 record and brought them to the East championship game. Unfortunately, they came up short against a high energy 24-7 team, but are now returning stronger than ever. Made up of veterans Stanley, Davis and the Jacob brothers this team is looking to made some real noise in the SABL. They have moved to the West division this year and will be playing an array of new teams and talents they have never seen before. It will be interesting to see how this team fairs against new talent. But one thing to look forward to is their rematch with 24-7, as they have moved to the West as well. This team bring the veteran leadership and chemistry many teams lack...could this be their year?

The road to the championship starts at the top. Whether West or East, to be the best you have to beat the best.
HUMANS have now won back to back championships. The LA Lakers of the SABL, this team proves that chemistry is the key to success. Without having a single player in the top five for scoring and only Mahdi being listed as one of the top rebounders, this team struck gold without brand names. They have paved their way to success through teamwork and chemistry. Full of talent, yet not one players steals the shine. A true example of TEAM, the Humans look to capture their 3rd championship in a row. However, they have a catch this year, as former all-star Muneeb makes his return to the court after a year off. Will his starpower be their achilles heel? Or will he instead be a complement to the consistent backcourt they already possess. Only time will tell if they will once again finish on top. But one thing is certain, their winning ways are anything but HUMAN.
In the East division's inaugural season, 24-7 shocked the world. After losing a handful of games, very few believed 24-7 had what it took to be the champs. STYL was running through teams at will and suffered one loss during the entire season. They seemed to be the favorites and win the whole thing. However, n the championship game, a matchup many referred to as David vs. Goliath, 24-7 came out swinging and never looked back. Taking a commanding lead, and never letting go, 24-7 took their first championship. After some off-season changes, 24-7 found themselves in the West division, but are now comfortably back in the East. The road to gold has to roll through Emosh and Co., and now that they are back home in the East, they want to prove that the HUMANS aren't the only ones that can pull of back-to-backs. This team packs a powerful punch and is ready to roll. |

Countdown to SABL Season V |
|
Monday, 25 October 2010 |

SABL Season V is finally upon us!
Join the SABL for Season V on November 7th.
The school has pushed us back by one week.
This year is going to be our most competitive and fun-filled season to date. We have several new teams and several mergers that will rock the standings this year. The Hitmen and Strong Island, two of SABL's longest running franchises have merged to make the Monsters. They are an assembly of hand picked players from both Hitmen and SI. Styl has moved over to the West division and look to bring their size and experience as they continue to hunt for a championship.
The usual contenders, SWAT, Rukus, Titans and MKA, who will now be known as the HighRizerZ, will continue to battle and remain among the elite as they too search for a championship. Many of these teams are returning their star players but have added some additional firepower to help close the deal this year.
Ballers and Panthers look to rebound from abysmal seasons. Their uncharacteristic season last year left many wondering if they will ever return to the dominance they once had. This season will tell alot. But one thing is for sure for each of the teams and the newcomers...the road to the championship goes through the HUMANS who are returning in full force.
In the East, the division remains somewhat untouched, as we have all of the teams returning. 24-7 returns as champs, however have now moved over to the West to take on some new competition. Thus leaving the East completely up for grabs. Force, Adrenaline, Red Jags and Desert Eagles have all stepped their games up and are all looking to be the new champs of the East. But they all need to watch out for newcomer, A-Team, as they are rumored to have a highly talented squad. The most dangerous team can be the one no one has seen play before. Interesting to see how this division turns out.
As always, we want your feedback teams. Sign onto the message board and let us know what you are thinking.

As a reminder, all games will be played on Sundays, starting the following SUNDAY, November 7th. Games will be held at RFK High School. The school felt that with Halloween that they want to push it back one week.
We have a lot of good surprises this season so stay tuned.
And again, we apologize for the delayed start...but its definitely going to be worth the wait!!!
