10 - Maybe the East was a better place for STYL? We know they have the talent...so whats going on?

9 - Manjot? Leading the league in ppg? Ballers look real good.

8 - Just picture Richard. Only a couple of inches taller. A little faster. A little stronger. Welcome Cire Sene. Scary.

7 - Panthers average 15.7 steals a game. Yes. 15.7. That is NOT a typo.

6 - Yes they have a new name. But the game is still the same. High Rizerz are legit with Rahul. The epitome of a balanced team.

5 - Just when we wanted to give up on them, they come up with a win against their IndoPak rivals. Keep rolling Warriors.

4 - Is SWAT for real? Miami Heat alert...and we mean the drama.

3 - Rukus is at it again. Shehan and Mike score way too much for anyone to keep up. No matter what kind of D you play.

2 - Is Strong Island really 0-3? Someone get Francisco's phone number please.

1 - Impossible is nothing. Titans tame the defending champs HUMANS. This division is up for grabs now.

The Buzz East Division

10 - Harvey of the Desert Eagles has increased his scoring average every year he has been in the league from 6.3 to 11.0 and now 17 ppg.

9 - Biju Thomas has taken his game to the next level this year.

8 - Fawas Khan is clogging the middle for Adrenaline and is the prototypical big man for this team.

7 - Did anyone expect the Lions to be the only undefeated team in the East?

6 - 24/7 is scoring an East best 72 points per game, but letting up an East worst 70 points per game.

5 - Someone has to put the ball in the basket for the Red Jags or this is going to be a long season for them 48 points per game is anemic.

4 - Force has had a tough 2 weeks but the week 3 loss against the Red Jags may come back to bite them come play off time.

3 - The Ravens have a very balanced attack and that is evidenced by captain Koshy's league leading assists.

2 - Walid Hariki does what he does every year and that is play hard nosed defense and get a lot of steals leading the league once again.

1 - Kashif Zeb from the A-Team is putting up a lot of points this year, but the big difference in his game is that he is also getting to the line.

1. 24/7- With a new look rotation, 24/7 took care of Adrenaline in the first game of their title defense. Despite a handful of new faces, Emosh’s crew showed their trademark chemistry in the win and will remain on top until someone knocks them down which won’t be easy. With players like Yassine and Jeff running the floor, look for 24/7 to run a lot of teams out of the gym this season.

2. A-Team- There was a lot of hype going into the season about SABL’s newest expansion team. Captained by Muzz Hafeez, the A-Team boasts an impressive set of centers and forwards ready to pound teams in the paint. With an eye opening come from behind win over a veteran Desert Eagle team, the A-team finds themselves in the two spot and a major player in this year’s championship hunt.

3. Lions- With their win over Force, the Lions come into the season with the most experienced team in the East conference. Lamba and the Ramani brothers will look to use their size to plow through many of the teams in the East and silence the critics after last year’s struggles.

4. Ravens- In one of the most impressive games of the day, the Ravens dominated the Red Jaguars for their first regular season win in what may seem like a while. Now in the East, the Ravens are on a mission to prove that they are a big contender and will use the chemistry that they have developed over years of playing together to prove their point.

5. Adrenaline- Given the tough task of opening the season against the defending champs, a young and inexperienced Adrenaline team showed potential despite the loss. The acquisition of Arif “Manu” Hussain and Khuram Shahzad will prove to work wonders for this team as their leadership will be key for the development of this team.

6. Desert Eagles- No one can deny the fact that the Desert Eagles opened the season with a bang. The trio of Harvey, Hasim, and Hariki will prove to be headaches for other teams in the future, but not this week. With Waleed fouling out, and Hasim having a relatively quiet game, the Desert Eagles couldn’t keep it together and blew a late 10 point lead to start off the season. They may have the offense to stay with a lot of the teams in the East but need to develop chemistry if they want to be successful.

7. Force- Unable to come up with a first game win, Force will look to come back strong in Week 2. Their tough early schedule may make this a bit difficult, but look for this team to be a sleeper in the East. They finished as one of the more elite teams last season and are returning many of the same players. It will just be a matter of time till this team find themselves higher in the rankings.

8. Red Jaguars- After moving to the East, everyone had high hopes for the Jags, and it’s probably surprising to many to see them at the bottom of the East at the end of week 1. In order for this team to climb up in the rankings, they need the combo of Khuram Mian and big man Norr Hashem to bring it every game, combine that with great coaching, and the Red Jaguars won’t remain in the basement for too long.

Power Rankings/Recap

West

1. HUMANS - with a convincing win over NYC Warriors, the HUMANS remain at the top. Until the two time defending champs are beaten, we dont see them losing the top spot. Their balanced attack and team defense stifles the competition. Mahdi seems to get better and better every year. And if he continues to put up the numbers he put up in game 1, we might just start hearing some MVP rumors. And hey, doesnt hurt to have Muneeb back either.

2. Rukus - Down 11 at the start because they showed up late, Rukus found themselves in a huge hole. High Rizerz dominated the entire first half and looked to have an easy win. But Rukus mustered up the energy to bring themselves back. Their defense and paint play by Bravo and Shehan was unstoppable. They snuck away with this one with a 62 - 60 win over the High Rizerz. This win along with the experts projections land Rukus in the second spot.

3. Titans - The historic battle of Rex vs. Stan was bound to be a good one. The two teams traded leads the whole way through. With about 8 minutes left in the first half, the Titans began to pull away. The dribble penetration from all the Titans guards was just too much to handle. Tom Job was out this game and the Titans still looked their best. Another strong start for them.

4. SWAT - With perhaps the most dominant win of the season opener, SWAT finds themselves at the 4 spot. A 16 point win over the Ballers was the highest margin of victory of the day. However, the win was hardfought. SWAT found themselves down by 7 at one point but somehow put a few good plays in action to turn things around. With Reyaad leading the way and Farhad in the paint, this team looks good.

5. Panthers - The last game of the day turned to be a nailbiter. The Panthers just got by powerhouse Strong Island with a 75 - 73 win. Are they back? Sure looked like it. Ditar and co. looked healthy and ready for a bounceback season. Not much defense in this game as evident by the high scores, but it was a great game to start the season. Panthers look to be a sleeper pick this year in the West. They have a deadly backcourt. Watch out for them.

6. High Rizerz - Many picked the High Rizerz to take home the ring this year. With the addition of Jasjit, they looked to be the most talented team on paper. However, their pursuit of a championship season experienced a bump in week 1. With a two point loss to Rukus, they land the 6 spot. We arent canceling them out after just 1 game. Because a basket here or there and they would have been the winners. But they need to close out games, especially when they have an 11- 0 advantage at the start.

7. Strong Island - Just like High Rizerz, SI suffered their own 2 point defeat. They played an evenly matched Panthers team and the game could have gone either way. Strong Island has always been a beast and we expect them to get better week in and week out. Lets see how they fair next week to start making assumptions. But this team has the experience to do some damage and cannot be slept on.

8. STYL - STYL's debut in the West division didnt go exactly as planned. A pretty tight game all throughout got away from them within the last few minutes of the second half. However, the 8th seed might be a bit misleading for this team. They were missing the Jacob brothers and thus were affected by it. The Titans guards went to the basket at will with the absence of Sijo and Sinu. Lets see how they fair when the full roster comes to play. We expect a different result.

9. Ballers - The addition of Joe Pena was huge for the Ballers. He literally carried the team on his back and created a 7 point lead over SWAT. But that was shortlived as SWAT came back roaring. The Ballers will need some help from their back court to keep such leads going or even increase them. It was good to see Nadeem back in action. He brings the inside presence they needed after losing Varun. Lets see if they can put the pieces together to

10. NYC Warriors - The newest team to the league and West division find themselves at the bottom of the pack. Granted its only week 1 and too early to jump to any sort of conclusions. It also isnt an easy task to come into a brand new league and have to play the 2 time defending champs. One thing is certain, the Warriors are a cohesive pack and its evident they play well together. Once they become comfortable with the competition we expect this team to start winning. Lets just hope its sooner than later.
